Are You Thinking Yourself Fat?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

by Lynn Peterson

Unless you have living without a television or a computer you have probably heard about the book titled “The Secret.” The author has been on Larry King and Oprah and has even had a television special made about “The Secret.” You will see the book prominently displayed in all the bookstores. It is a course on how to use the Law of Attraction.

There are countless stories about how “The Secret” has been used by people to turn their lives around.

Can the law of attraction help us reach our perfect weight and become healthy and happy? Yes, it can. Actually, the law of attraction is what led you to where you are today. Yep, those love handles and hips were attracted by you.

So far you’ve used the law of attraction to manifest your favorite pizza, nachos, or whatever your weakness food is that you fantasize about.

Our thoughts today become our reality tomorrow. If we allow our thoughts to focus on bad things, then those bad things will enter our lives. We are attracting them to us.

The secret teaches that whatever you think about manifests itself in your life. In other words whatever you think about becomes a reality for you.Let’s examine this a little closer. If you catch yourself fantasizing about the pizza you are going to have for lunch, then you are using “The Secret.” Yes, it’s true. Your thought of pizza will result in you doing those things (going to the pizzeria at lunch) that will result in your thoughts becoming real (eating the pizza for lunch).

How can you harness the law of attraction to create your new fit body?

It goes like this: a thin, fit person thinks about those things that will make him or her thin or fit. When a thin, fit person fantasizes, it is about the run they’re going to have at lunch time and how good it’s going to make them feel. So that thought becomes their reality. They go have a run at lunch and they feel good afterwards.

Contrast this with the thoughts of a fat person. Usually the fat person will obsess about food, hunger, (or worse) how bad they look or feel. So what is a fat person’s reality? More food, more hunger, and bad looks or feelings.

If you are struggling to lose weight, stop yourself right now and write down what thoughts turn in your head. Come on, do it. Did you catch yourself thinking bad thoughts about yourself? If you are being truthful, you probably are.

Take control of your thoughts because those thoughts are controlling who you are. Think thoughts of being thin.

Think about how good it will feel to go out and buy a new wardrobe because your clothes are too big for you. Think about how good it feels after a workout.

Take charge of your mind and fire that little voice that got you where you are today. Feed your mind positive “fit” thoughts and become the new you.

Exercise Equipment-Is It Necessary For A Good Workout

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by Robert Allen Byrnes

My friend turned me on to watching infomercials on certain TV stations in the evening and all the programs I have seen are about exercise equipment of every kind. Some of those machines have you standing on your head, some evening hanging upside down; others look like the poor fellow is being stretched on the torture rack pretending he is having fun, other channels are also promoting things like machines, treadmills, the elliptical machines and a lot of others.

The message they are broadcasting to the viewer is “yes you can get that beautiful figure back ladies;” and yes man you can have six pack abs and bulging muscles in a matter of days. It is all very appealing because we as human beings are endowed universally with a sense of vanity aren’t we?

Not only the commercialism on TV but there are gyms all over the place that are packed with exercise machines and rows and rows of treadmills with sweaty bodies striving and agonizing to get through their 45 minute exercise program. In fact that is why all these people are agonizing at the gym-they have a plethora of machines..wall to wall exercise machines.

With all the shtick and flippancy of some of my remarks, we must now assume a more serious posture and focus on whether or not these gyms and their exercise equipment are the way to go for those of us determined to get and keep in shape. Are we really just being duped; do we really need them, and can they really do the job?

The simple flat out answer to this question is that you don’t need exercise equipment but the main reason that exercise equipment is so popular is because of its convenience. Most people just won’t exercise without a machine. Think about it-you can go in to your treadmill turn it on and have an intense workout as you’re watching TV or as you are listening to music through your Ipod.

For many people, going to the gym is a social affair. My lady friends sign up together and make it a real gathering place; some men do this also. Quite frankly, distractions annoy me when I’m concentrating on my exercise; I take them seriously. I prefer to keep my social life separate from working out; social isolation is no issue for me.

From one who has at least five different home machines, each targeting a specific body area, his answer is: to each his own. He prefers exercising at home, because going to the gym takes extra time and he doesn’t need the social time. Even though his exercise equipment, the treadmill, elliptical, Ab machine and such is expensive, it’s effective and very much worth it and he enjoys the comforts of home. A gym enthusiast might say: I don’t have the room at home; machines are too expensive and I’m not a mechanic to assemble them; furthermore I need and enjoy the company. So indeed, to each his own.

The trainers at the gym, as well as the instructions with the exercise equipment you buy, advise a routine of aerobics, AB workouts, and finishing off with light weight exercise. Diversity is the key and so are the machines; they are my way to shape up and fly right!

How To Get Rid Of Man Boobs - What To Avoid And What To Use

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

by Tom Valian

Man boobs (gynecomastia/male breasts) has increased in occurrence over the last decade. A Traumatic condition that is usually not understood properly by most, gynecomastia is very common between ages of 15-24 in men.

The medical field has yet to offer a good and safe treatment for gynecomastia, even though it is extremely common. Yet, there has been a lot of hope offered by alternative treatment options for gynecomastia. Proper treatment of gynecomastia can only begin once the causes behind it are correctly understood.

Causes of Gynecomastia

Though gynecomastia is often associated with a poor diet, the truth is very different. While a fatty and fast-food based diet contributes greatly to fat increase in gynecomastia, that alone cannot cause an increase in glandular size of the male breasts.

In a majority of the cases, the real cause behind man boobs is a disturbance in the hormone levels. This disturbance in hormonal levels is usually found in men with poor eating and exercise habits. It makes sense then that, while it may superficially appear that excess fat is the problem, this is actually not correct.

Man Boob Symptoms

As is clear by the usage of phrases such as man boobs and male breasts, gynecomastia is defined as the condition where an otherwise healthy male develops puffy deposits of fat under the breasts especially under and around the nipples, making it look like female-breasts.

While the fatty male breasts often coincide with fat content elsewhere on the body, in many cases the breasts are dis-proportionally large, resulting in widespread derision and distress.

Male breast Treatment

Many treatment options for gynecomastia have been offered, a large percentage of which are actually counter-productive:

1. Surgery - This is surprisingly common. The fat/tissue build-up underneath the breasts are removed after surgically cutting through the upper layers of skin and muscle. While this may have an immediate effect, this does not really treat the condition fully.

Additionally, the danger of permanent scar tissue developing underneath (which can mean permanent man boobs) easily makes this a pretty bad option. This procedure, as expected, is very expensive, and carries risks associated with all surgeries in general.

2. Prescription Drugs - These are often prescribed even though their effectiveness is widely disputed. Secondly, the expensive nature and dangerous side effects associated with them makes drugs a poor choice.

3. Condition Maskers - This category houses anything that doesn’t actually cure man boobs, but gives a superficial impression of being free of gynecomastia.

Tight vests are a good example of something that only makes it look like the condition has been treated. Of course, this wouldn’t work on a beach or while swimming when one cannot wear the vest.

4. Exercises for gynecomastia - Though these work, one needs to have a good knowledge of which ones work, and pursue them diligently. In addition, this is not immediately effective in treating issues resulting from hormonal disturbance and fluctuations and can essentially only help with developing muscle in the chest.

By far the best option is to apply an eclectic system of treatment that combines the various components of the treatment in a plan that quickly helps eliminate male breasts.

by Kathryn Soloff

It takes time to become fat and it takes time to lose weight. Losing weight is a process. Losing weight should be gradual enough so that the weight loss is healthy.

Weight loss supplements can be a part of a natural weight loss program. They should be herbal and all natural. Losing weight is not a single event. Healthy weight loss takes place of time with a healthy lifestyle change.

Losing weight is not just about looking better. A planned weight loss program is not difficult. It comes down to one simple thing. Eating whole, natural foods.

Natural foods include whole grains, vegetables, beans and fruit. It is best to avoid processed and prepared foods. When you change your lifestyle to one of whole natural foods, the weight will come off by itself.

It is just as crucial to have a daily exercise program. This does not have to be complicated. Your daily routine is something that you should enjoy. You can walk, jog, ride a bike or play tennis. You can change what you do everyday. Remember that your daily workout should be for at least an hour.

Exercise does not just burn calories, it supports you mental health. Regular exercise for about an hour each day will change your brain chemistry. You will experience improved moods and greater clarity of mind.

Being overweight or obese is directly related to health and heart problems. If you are overweight or under a physician’s care, please consult with your doctor first.

Dieting does not work. It is a temporary solution for an ongoing problem. It is true that many popular diets promise rapid weight loss. They do not provide the skills for keeping that weight off. Real lifestyle changes makes it possible for healthy weight loss and for keeping if off.

Lasting, healthy weight loss requires dedication and effort. The key to success here is simple. It is not the latest fad diet or program or chemicals. The real secret to weight loss and improved health comes from the small decisions that we make each and every day.
